Church in the Two Kingdoms
Tuesday, September 12, 2006, posted by Steve McCranie - (46.04)

Oh yeah, Church in the Two Kingdoms!
Or, should I say, "How we do church in the Two Kingdoms.

Do we follow the rules of this kingdom?  You know, the "all we want you to do is feel good about yourself," and "Jesus suffered and died to give you more stuff... just like your own Santa Clause in the sky!" — Ugh.
Classic, late night, TBN sort of junk.

Or, do we do church by the rules of His Kingdom — the Kingdom of God?
"And what are those rules?" you ask.
Stay tuned and find out...

Note:  This podcast consists of a Love Jesus, Hate Church Reformation Series Sermon on the subject of Life in the Two Kingdoms titled, "Church: American Style"  And, as you know, there are some inherent limitations in listening to a recording of a live message.  Therefore, if you imagine me pointing to the Kingdom of God to my left and the kingdom of the world to my right, you will get a better picture of the dynamics of the topic.

Life in the Two Kingdoms
Tuesday, September 5, 2006, posted by Steve McCranie - (36.21)

As a point of reference, a study on our life in the "two kingdoms" seemed appropriate at this time in our Love Jesus, Hate Church journey.

"What are the two kingdoms?" you ask.
Good question.

In a nutshell (Cliff Notes style), the two kingdoms are the two realms of existence all Believers own real estate in.  You know, the kingdom of this world with all its rules and definitions of success and the Kingdom of God Jesus continually spoke about.

Let's see how we are to live in these two divergent kingdoms, shall we?

The Place to Begin
Saturday, September 2, 2006, posted by Steve McCranie - (16.09)

Ah yes, the best place to begin anything is always at the beginning.  And that also holds true of Love Jesus, Hate Church.  I mean, how did all this come about?  Where did it start?  Where did it all begin?

And, what about the purpose?  You know, the overriding, spiritual, "this is why I get up in the morning" type of purpose?  What are you trying to accomplish?  What, if anything, are you trying to prove with Love Jesus, Hate Church?
Excellent questions.
Now, let me see if I can begin by answering your questions with our first podcast.

The Joy of Believing the Lie
Friday, September 1, 2006, posted by Steve McCranie

“I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State.
My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own,
so that both of them together is certain death.”
George Carlin (1937- )

I am keenly aware of the fact that you may be wondering about a guy who would write a book entitled, Love Jesus, Hate Church. You probably have some questions, maybe many questions, about the origins of a book that makes people as uncomfortable as Love Jesus, Hate Church has proven to do.
You may be asking yourself, "How can you be a Christian and use the words Love and Hate and Jesus and Church all in the same sentence?  It just seems so wrong."
And, you're right. It does seem wrong.
     True.  But wrong.

Yep, I would probably be wondering the same thing if the tables were turned and I found myself in your shoes.

So, let me see if I can shed some light on who I am and why I do what I do by telling you a bit about myself and how I came to write Love Jesus, Hate Church.  Let me share with you, oh, how shall I put it— the joy of believing the lie. I believe this will give you a better grasp of who I am and why I wrote Love Jesus, Hate Church.
