Some of the most chilling
words in all of the Revelation... at least up to this
point.
"And
the rest of mankind who were not killed by these
plagues, did not repent of the works of their
hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols
of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone
and of wood, which can neither see or hear nor
walk; and they did not repent of their murders nor
of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of
their thefts."
Oil at
$110 a barrel. Gasoline at $3.35 (or more) per gallon. Diesel
fuel at $4 per gallon. Independent truckers forced off the
road. Home heating oil rising to unconscionable price levels.
Jet fuel so expensive that three low-cost airlines stopped
flying in the past few weeks. This is just a taste of the
latest energy news, signaling a profound change in how all of
us, in this country and around the world, are going to live -
trends that, so far as anyone can predict, will only become
more pronounced as energy supplies dwindle and the global
struggle over their allocation intensifies.
Here,
according to Michael T. Klare,* are five key
forces in this new world order which will change our planet:
1.
Intense
competition between older and newer economic powers for
available supplies of energy.
2.
The
insufficiency of primary energy supplies.
3.
The
painfully slow development of energy alternatives.
4.
A steady
migration of power and wealth from energy-deficit to
energy-surplus nations.
5.
A growing
risk of conflict.

You know,
Jesus said one of the signs of the times of His coming would
be the simple fact that the love of people, of you and I, will
grow cold.
Really cold. Fridged.
This video is just one example.
A traffic camera in Hartford, Connecticut, caught on
tape a man, Angel Arce Torres, age 78, being struck by two
cars, thrown into the air, and paralyzed below the neck... and
literally ignored by dozens of bystanders as he lay critically
injured in the street.
Take a look at it and cringe.
Now, look
again.
Notice the car that pulls to the right, backs up, and
then goes on its merry way.
Notice the man in the foreground that gets something
from a car and casually walks by the fallen man without even
looking down.
Finally, notice the man on the motorcycle that passes
the injured grandfather, circles to get a closer look, and
hurries on his way.
"Because
lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow
cold."
Matthew
24:12
Watch and
weep for what we have become as a people... and as a church.
